Dead Girl Running Blurb:
Eight years ago, SILVIA WOOD's father died in an industrial accident. After suffering through years of Psychotherapy Services and Mandated Medications for depression and multiple suicide attempts, she longs to work in Botanical Sciences. When the Occupation Exam determines she must work in Mortuary Sciences instead, she wonders if the New Order assigned her to the morgue to push her over the edge.
To appease her disappointed mother, Silvia enters the Race for Citizen Glory, in an attempt to stand out in the crowd of Equals. After she begins training with "golden boy" LIAM HARMAN, she discovers he also lost his father in the same accident that ruined her childhood. Then Silvia meets and falls for Liam's older cousin, whose paranoid intensity makes her question what really happened to her father. As the race nears, Silvia realizes that she's not only running for glory, she's running for her life.

When did you first know that you wanted to become a writer?
I've always written, ever since a child. There wasn't any big moment of revelation. How disappointing of me!

In your words, what is your book about?
Yoga, Running, Fireworks, Dead Bodies, Mortuary Science, Anatomy, the father-daughter bond, the mother-daughter angst, physical attraction, dedication, physical pain, and pushing oneself to one's limits.
Condensed version: A cross between The GiverThe Handmaid's Tale, and Agenda 21.

What is the hardest part about being an author?
Finding the time to write.

What is your favorite part?
When characters surprise me.

What kinds of things do you like to do in your free time (when not writing)?
What's "free time?"
Well, I do love trail running, yoga, reading, and hiking. I have limited success cooking and gardening.

What book are you reading now?
Calvin and Hobbes – Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons (Judge me if you will—it's AWESOME!)

What are some of your favorite books of 2015?
(BTW, these books were books I read in 2015—I'm not sure when they were published)
Still Alice by Lisa Genoa was brilliantly (and accurately—for a change) done.
Charming = To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
 Twisty-turny (which I adore) =
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Liars, Inc. by Paula Stokes
The Summer the World Ended by Matthew S. Cox
Fun = Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson.
What was your favorite book as a child?
The Narnia series, which (I'm delighted to say) I will be rereading ASAP since my son has started the series.
Describe your hero(ine) in three words
From Dead Girl Running? Strong, Smart, Kick-ass
What are you working on now?
A YA semi-autobiographical novel about Alzheimer's Disease.

  1. I remember reading Geronimo Stilton books when I was a child! My favorites were probably the volumes that has Creepella von Cacklefur in it!
