Pitch On Workshop Begins!
Today is the day folks. It's finally time to start priming to Get Your Pitch On! As I've mentioned previously, Get Your Pitch On is going to be a super chance for any YA writers that would like to be able to skip right on over the slush pile and have their pitch seen directly by an editor. The event is being put together by YAtopia and Down Under Wonderings, and is happening October 15th.
But, before that, we wanted to give you a chance to get those pitches all sparkly-like. Thus, the Pitch-On workshop.
26 blogs are hosting pitches, and each host (including myself) will be critiquing pitches sent in. Anyone visiting can feel free to comment/critique the pitch as well. However, play nice. Offer constructive feedback. But at the same time--be helpful. If you like a pitch, say WHY you liked it...not just "super, love it!". If you think it needs a little fine-tuning, try to be specific, not just "Boy, that sucked." (Which isn't playing nice anyway.)
For each pitch you critique (and actually offer some constructive criticism), you will earn an entry into a drawing to win one of eight 10-page manuscript critiques being offered. For more info on this contest, read here.
Don't forget, there will be an interview with Commissioning and Managing Editor of Hardie Grant Egmont, Marisa Pintado, coming up soon to give you an idea what she's looking for before she takes your pitches on Down Under Wonderings and YAtopia on the 15th. Keep an eye out for more updates about that as they comes in.
I will be posting each pitch on my blog in a separate post. Be sure to comment and leave feedback and check out the other host blogs as well! So without further adieu, let's go get our Pitch On!
