Geopolitical babysitting while arresting preternatural killers, it’s just the daily grind for Scion Rowan Brady.  Brash and sarcastic, Rowan has sold her life, her career and her very blood to the controlling paranormal ruling class of America, all to make sure her kid brother can eat. Now she uses her powers as a scion to kick the ass of any preternatural creature idiotic enough to break the rules and prey upon humanity without a license. All it costs her is her freedom and a pint or two per week to her new Master.

But juggling her job and duties becomes even tougher when she is tasked with keeping a contingency of diplomats from Canada from getting gnawed on. However, negotiations for an International Blood Exchange are interrupted when bodies start showing up.

Now Rowan must rely on her talent and wit to defend the society she despises to save the lives she’s sworn to protect. But as she stumbles into the truth, she chances becoming a target of not only these killers, but of her own government. With shifters, ghosts, vampires and psychics all watching her, can she stop the killings before she is silenced?

When did you first know that you wanted to become a writer?
In sixth grade I wrote my first "hard boiled" crime noir. Did my own illustrations and everything. I was hooked but kept all my ideas hidden away in journals and diaries. I know. Not a new story, but the truth. Then I shared a few ideas with others and their reactions drove me to share more and more until I wanted to share with everyone.

In your words, what is your book about?

Rowan Brady became a Scion of the new American Government to keep her kid brother fed. But while tracking down the latest supernatural serial killer she learns it’s politics that’ll destroy you.

What is the hardest part about being an author?
Finding the time to devote while juggling work and family and martial arts and friends and, well, all the other demands of life.

What is your favorite part?
Watching emotions trickle over someone's face as they read.

What kinds of things do you like to do in your free time (when not writing)?
Martial Arts, teaching, gaming and hanging with friends and family, Also love any time I can devote to my crafting endeavors. Plus any spare time I can give to the Gentle Giant's Horse Rescue.

What book are you reading now?
Gyre by Jessica Gunn (ARCs are fun)

What are some of your favorite books of 2015?

Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs
The Martian by Andy Weir

What was your favorite book as a child?
Nightmares by Jack Prelutsky This may explain a great deal about me and my current writings. I also loved Jane Yolen's Dragon's Heart.

Describe your hero in three words.
Brassy, sarcastic and protective

What are you working on now?
I'm wrapping up the sequel to Of Scions and Men, whose working title is The Scions of Wrath. This book goes so much further than book 1 ever considered. Not to mention a huge leap in emotion and romance without losing the horror and violence.
